MORRISONS is removing all of the locks from the trolleys at its Bromsgrove supermarket after customers said they would prefer the devices to be removed to make shopping quicker and easier.
Those visiting the supermarket will no longer need a £1 coin or a token in order to take a trolley after bosses responded to shoppers’ feedback.
Jon Deakin, the general manager of Morrisons Bromsgrove said: “Our nation is getting busier and we have less free time than previous generations.
“Customers in Bromsgrove have told us that they want a quicker shop.
“The removal of trolley locks is just one of the many improvements we are making to our store – to make for a faster and easier shopping trip.”
The supermarket giant is making similar changes to its other stores nationwide and will have removed more than 150,000 locks by the end of this month.
Other alterations will include redesigning the layout of stores, extending opening hours, updating car park controls and improving baby changes and toilet facilities.
