MORE than £1,000 was raised for Shelter by Frankley Guitar Club which held its annual festive concert at the Austin Social Club in Longbridge.

A total of 30 people performed on the evening with genres including rock, pop, blues, folk and other genres.

Frankley Guitar Club, which holds its sessions between 7.30pm and 9.30pm on alternate Wednesdays at Holly Hill School, is always looking for new members. Those who go along will be able to improve their guitar-playing skills and get the chance to perform in public in a friendly environment.

Each session begins with a 30-minute lesson on a specific guitar aspect and then there is the chance for people to perform what they have practised.

Everyone will be able to play at least one song on the night and everyone is welcome, regardless of their style and ability.

There is also a small PA system at the venue. The next meeting is on Wednesday (March 4).
