MEMBERS of Blackwell Concert Band took time out of their singing schedule to trek up Mount Snowdon to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
The band is well known in the local community for its exceptional music, but also their generosity and kindness.
Eleven members, ranging in age from 14 to 67 (including family members and an unsuspecting dog), successfully reached the peak.
Despite the horrific weather on the day, the band ventured on and has successfully warmed hearts for their efforts.
The band started fund-raising for Macmillan in 2011 following their secretary’s diagnosis with cancer. Since then the band has raised £10,000, with the recent walk so far seeing £2,000 collected and more is still coming in.
Richard Hand, one of the event coordinators, said they were ‘currently considering their next fund-raising challenge’.
And that is not all, the band also perform for Macmillan, such as on Severn Valley Railway.
