A BLUE Mazda worth £3,500 was stolen following a car key burglary in Cofton Hackett.

The incident happened between 5.30pm on January 20 and 6am on January 21 when the vehicle was parked in Ashmead Drive.

The thieves used an implement to reach into the property through the letterbox and obtained the keys to the blue Capella, which had the registration VA07 TRV.

After being driven away, the car was then recovered over a week later – it was found in Carlton Road in Bordesley Green, Birmingham, on January 29 by officers from West Midlands Police.

Damage had been sustained to the bodywork, including bumpers, the back light and front tyres.

Police officers investigating the incident now want to hear from anyone who saw the vehicle in from the time it was stolen to the time it was recovered.

Any witnesses or anyone with any information should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

The police are also reminding residents to ensure their homes are secure and the valuable items, such as car keys, are not within easy reach of doors and windows.
