BUILDING works on the new Marks and Spencers in Longbridge Town Centre have finished.
And the store is now being fitted out in preparation for the grand opening later this year.
St Modwen has handed over the keys to the two-storey building – which takes up 150,000 sq ft and will be the Midlands’ largest M&S store – to supermarket chiefs.
Shoppers will be able to find everything from women’s, men’s wear, children’s clothes, beauty products, food, home products and a cafe.
The front of the store will boast the latest M&S branding and a living, breathing green wall, which will stay there throughout the year. There will also be a six- floor multi-storey car park housing 500 spaces.
Steve Prosser, St Modwen’s midlands regional director, said with about 30,000 shoppers already visiting Longbridge Town Centre each week the presence of the new M&S would further boost the retail offering.
“We are particularly pleased M&S will be trading in time for the Christmas shopping period, adding to the existing variety of stores and food outlets available to our shoppers,” she added.
“M&S together with the range of other units will create a real buzz around what is already anticipated to be the best trading period for a long long time.”
