A MAN in his 20s has been cut free from a car after a serious crash in Hollywood.

The incident happened just before 5.40am this morning on Alcester Road when the vehicle hit a tree.

Firefighters removed the roof and the passenger door from the car and, after the man was rescued from the wreckage, he had head pain and was feeling disorientated.

He was immobilised and taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital’s major trauma centre.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said it was amazing the driver escaped serious injury as, on arriving at the scene, paramedics feared for his life.

“Despite the level of damage, the man had suffered what appeared to be remarkably minor injuries,” he said.

And he confirmed a rapid response vehicle, an ambulance, a paramedic officer and the MERIT trauma doctor were sent to the scene.
