HOPWOOD is now looking spick and span after the area was given a spring clean by 34 volunteers.
Among them were six young people, along with their parents and Charles Hotham who is standing as an independent candidate for Barnt Green and Hopwood in the Bromsgrove District Council elections.
Hopwood Residents Association chairman and parish councillor Adrian Smith said: “I’d just like to thank everyone involved including Bromsgrove District Council for supplying the equipment and the recently refurbished Hopwood Village Hall and its committee members for providing free coffee before the start.
“It’s great to get young people involved in projects like this to help clean up their area because it helps to encourage community ownership and pride.”
The event was a great success with 51 bags of rubbish being collected, along with old cupboard doors, planks of wood and other discarded items on verges and hedgerows.
Mr Smith added: “This is the sort of collective community endeavour that makes Hopwood a great place to live.”
