Life-saving skills to be learnt at first aid course in Bromsgrove

PARENTS, parents-to-be, carers and grandparents can learn vital life-saving skills specifically aimed at children at a Baby First Aid Course.

The session will be held at Bromsgrove’s Baptist Church at 8pm on Tuesday (September 22) after the Bromsgrove branch of the National Childbirth Trust (NCT) teamed up with local qualified first aid trainer Jan Maycock.

The session, which is just two hours long, is specifically designed to be relevant for parents and carers of babies and pre-school children and covers topics that would most be the most concerning – CPR, choking and burns.

Claire Strachan, Bromsgrove NCT’s baby first aid co-ordinator, said the course was perfect for learning the simple procedures needed in an emergency, but short enough to fit into a busy parent’s schedule.

“Many parents and grandparents feel anxious about what to do for for a child in an emergency.

“The NCT baby first aid course is a chance to learn the essentials, ask questions and practice on dummies, to help them feel more prepared in a crisis.”

The course costs just £12.50 per person or £20 per couple.

There will be a further course taking place on November 18.

Booking and pre-payment are essential.
