ARTRIX launched its LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender) History Month celebrations on Tuesday night with a packed event supported by Bromsgrove District Council.
More than 100 visitors attended to celebrate diversity and equality.
There were information stalls and refreshments, followed by a lively screening of the film ‘Pride’ introduced by the venue’s new director, Hannah Phillips.
Organisations in attendance included Bromsgrove Library, West Mercia Police, The Gender Trust, Age UK and New Road Parents Group.
On display were exhibitions from Rainbow Voices Choir and Birmingham LGBT’s ‘Coming Out Stories’ project.
Artrix’s engagement co-ordinator TC Peppercorn said: “Artrix is proud to be celebrating LGBT History Month for the seventh year. We are an inclusive venue with diversity and equality as core values and feedback from last night certainly indicates that our audiences feel welcomed.”
LGBT History Month continues throughout February at Artrix with exhibitions and screenings of ‘The Danish Girl’ and ‘Carol’.
