Just 130 places left in this year's Bromsgrove Bloodwise fun run

RUNNERS wanting to take part in the annual Bromsgrove Bloodwise fun run are being urged to register their interest as soon as possible as there are now fewer than 130 places left.

The event takes place from 11am to 1pm on May 8, with the 10K event beginning at 11am and the 5K at 11.10am.

Young people must be 16 or over to enter the 10K.

Organiser Nicole Harris said: “I urge anyone who would like to register to do it now to avoid any disappointment.

“It is very likely that we may not have any entries on the day.”

The branch of the charity was launched in 1988 and the fun run began in 1989, six weeks after Nicole’s nine-year-old son Marc died of leukaemia and since then the event has gone from strength to strength.

Last year, more than £20,000 was raised for the event and overall, since it started, £908,000 has been collected.

The Bromsgrove branch of Bloodwise is hopeful it will hit its million pound target in the next three years.

On the day, there will be a road closure order for the the start of the race for 30 minutes in Walnut Lane.

Entry is £12.50 (standard) and £11.50 (Athletic Association affiliated).

It includes a fund-raising pack, race number and information about the event.

There will be prizes for first second, third and veterans in both runs. All fund-raisers with a minimum of £20 before the day of the race will receive a t-shirt. All competitors will receive one of the new medals. There will also be chip timing on the day.
