JEWELLERY worth £500 was stolen during a Bromsgrove burglary, which happened between 12.30am and 6.40am on Thursday night (May 15).
The incident happened at a ground floor flat in sheltered accommodation in Shenstone Close when the raider stood on a plant pot to reach in through a small window. That enabled them to open a larger window, climb in and steal the jewellery.
The victim was a vulnerable man who was very distressed by the burglary as the jewellery belonged to his mother and was of great sentimental value.
Police confirmed house-to-house inquiries had been carried out in the area.
Det Con Tony Flannagan said: “We are appealing for information which could help us capture this callous offender or recover the jewellery.”
Following this one and a burglary in Redditch where a pallet was used to gain access to a window, police have warned residents to think carefully about the positioning of items in their gardens, such as plant pots, bins and garden furniture, although they stress that the two incidents are not being linked.
