BROMSGROVE Twinning Association voted in a new chair at its annual general meeting (AGM).

Janet King received her chain of office from outgoing chair Roger Westbury.

She thanked members for electing her and spoke about how she was looking forward to three years in her new role.

In her acceptance speech, she also outlined the association’s priorities – to increase membership, strengthen links with friends in both France and Germany and to continue the popular social events which the group organises throughout the year.

Following this year’s successful visit to St Sauveur-Lendelin in Normandy the next event will be a boules (petanque) match at Redditch Rugby Club starting at 6.30pm next Friday (August 5).

Members of both twinning associations will compete for the first time for the Ivor Stephenson Boules Trophy followed by supper and a quiz in the club house.

And there will be an opportunity for non-members to learn more about the Bromsgrove Twinning Group and its activities on September 23 at a relaunch event at Bromsgrove Golf Centre.
