CONTROVERSIAL plans to redevelop Bromsgrove Golf Course and create a new 700-home residential neighbourhood have been revealed.
Developers Blenheim Strategic Partners launched a consultation on the plans yesterday (Thursday) which will run until February 26.
Feedback from residents will help shape the final layout before an application is submitted to Bromsgrove District Council.
The council has identified the site as suitable for residential development as part of its local plan consultation.
Almost 2,900 letters opposing housing development on Bromsgrove Golf Course were submitted to the council in October.
These proposals include around 700 homes, including a mix of starter and family homes, with up to 50 per cent of them being affordable housing.

They also include a sustainable, landscape-led community with homes designed for zero-carbon living, and a new country park.
New public facilities, including a first school and sports pitches, have also been suggested to residents, along with shops and food and drink venues.
The applicants claim the development will help meet demand for new homes in Bromsgrove.
Nigel McGurk, Blenheim Strategic Partners’ head of portfolio, said: “These provide for new facilities for all Bromsgrove residents, including bringing new accessible green space into the town. “
During Bromsgrove District Council’s ‘Call For Sites’ in 2017, citing years of declining membership and fears for the business’ longevity, the golf club’s owners explored alternatives for and offered up land for potential future development.
The owners entered into a long-standing contractual agreement with Blenheim Strategic Partners.

The Golf Centre was included in the district council’s Draft Development Strategy in June 2025 and a consultation took place.
Bromsgrove Golf Club’s Gentlemen’s Club Captain, Lee Machin, MP Bradley Thomas and Coun Sam Evans have all publicly opposed the plans.
Mr Machin told the Standard: “We are very opposed to this development and the letters we submitted show the strength of public opinion.
“When we are having so much housing development imposed on us, it is important to have more outdoor leisure venues, not less.
“We urge everyone who opposes this to have their say before the deadline.”
