BROMSGROVE High Street was packed on Saturday (November 21) for the town’s Christmas lights switch-on.
Town athlete Helen Russell, who has taken part in triathlons, duathlons and aquathlons, and Bromsgrove District Council chairman, Coun Caroline Spencer, pushed the plunger. They were joined by Bromsgrove’s Miss Worcestershire hopeful Laura Beth Morgan.
Prior to the illumination, there was a special roadshow, hosted by Andrew Easton from BBC Hereford and Worcester, and a programme of live entertainment.
Among those performing were the Rock Choir, Erica Halley, Nathan Farrell and headliners The Candy Dolls.
Cast members from All & Sundry’s production of Dick Whittington were also in the High Street and, when the town was lit up, revellers headed up to the historic St John’s Church for the third MidWinterFest.
Coun Rita Dent told The Standard: “It was great to see so many people enjoying the High Street – not just for the lights switch-on but for the Friday too.
“The entertainment was fantastic and the Christmas Market definitely brought in the early festive shoppers.”
