Group does 100k walk for Primrose Hospice

A TEAM of tenacious fund-raisers completed a gruelling all-terrain 100k walk to raise funds for the Primrose Hospice.

Sarah Wilson and Dave and Rachel Mills, who all attend The Abbey Stadium gym, trekked from London to Brighton, walking continuously throughout the day and night and completing it in an impressive 27 hours and 53 minutes.

Sarah said: “It was an amazing experience – mentally and physically demanding – we have a few blisters – but we completed it.”

To ready themselves for the challenge, the trio took on training walks up the Malvern Hills.

Sarah, who works for Mettis Areospace, chose the charity because she said she wanted to support a local charity and put something back into her local community.

Rachel and Dave undertook the feat in memory of Rachel’s mom, Dot Cooper, who passed away in June 2012 due to primary biliary cirrhosis.

Dot spent her final few days at the hospice where, the pair said, the staff did a wonderful job of managing her end-of-life care.

Sadly she never got to see the couple marry, passing away just two days after they had booked their wedding.

A spokesperson for the Primrose said they wanted to say a massive thank you to Sarah, Dave and Rachel for taking on such an amazing challenge.
