THE PRIMROSE Hospice, which cares for people with life-limiting illnesses in Bromsgrove and Redditch, has officially opened its new Garden Room.
The event was held in conjunction with an afternoon tea for all of the charity’s volunteers.
A special plaque was unveiled to mark the opening – that was done by Ivor Stephenson, the charity’s founder member and former vice-chairman.
He said it was a privilege to work with the Primrose Hospice, which he had done since its inception in 1987 – firstly, during its brief period under NHS management and later as a charity.
“Like many of our volunteers, I have seen the hospice experience many changes as it has developed and expanded its services to meet the needs of individuals with cancer and other life threatening illnesses and their families and friends.
“Change is a constant process within the political climate of our public services, not least in the NHS.”
He added the Primrose was well-placed to respond to the challenge of providing specialist palliative care services.
“We have a committed board of trustees, excellent professional management in all areas of the organisation, superb staff who work together effectively as a team and many dedicated, loyal and hard working volunteers, without whom we could not exist.
“Above all we have the support of the people of Bromsgrove and Redditch in helping to raise the funds required.”
As well as the official opening, entertainment on the day was provided by a local band.
