French twinners tuck in

MORE THAN 50 Bromsgrove town twinners celebrated this year’s Tour de France and Bastille Day with a special celebration at the Trininty Centre, Lickey.

The guest of honour at the annual dinner was civil engineering student Aymeric Fossard, who has been staying with members of Bromsgrove and District Twinning Association whilst he has been working in the town this summer.

French university courses, like their German counterparts, expect their students to spend time in an English speaking country during their course and Aymeric has been busy improving his English whilst living with local families. After a short break at home he will be spending August in Ireland.

The dinner, which featured duck and orange pate, Normandy pork with beans and new potatoes and a tarte au citron and strawberries, was hailed a great success. There was also cheese, along with coffee to finish.

President David Turner congratulated cook Shelagh O’Loughlin and her helpers – husband Roger and Judith and Ivor Stephenson.

Roger Westbury, chair of the association, presented Aymeric with a maillot jaune as a souvenir of a very enjoyable evening. The association members’ next local event will be a boules evening with their friends in Redditch.
