Frankley pupils send boxes to help give the troops a better Christmas

KIND-HEARTED youngsters from Reaside Academy in Frankley collected food items so seasonal shoeboxes could be sent to UK servicemen and women.

The students then sent the parcels to a Derby-based organisation called ‘Shoeboxes for our Heroes’ run by Chris and Sherian Webster to give troops a better festive season.

As well as the parcels, the children also sent letters to the soldiers, written in class with their teachers, to thank them for the work they did.

A spokesperson for the school said: “A member of the PTA currently has a brother in the army and has shared how much of a boost these things can be when you are stationed away from home, especially at Christmas.”

Reaside Academy receives updates from Chris at ‘Shoeboxes for our Heroes’ via Twitter, about how their charitable efforts have helped make a difference to the lives of others.
