The flags are up for the Queen's birthday in Rubery

MORE than 70 Union Flags have been put on lamp posts on New Road in Rubery – the village’s main shopping area – to celebrate HM The Queen’s birthday.

The venture was sponsored by the Rubery Village Business Association (RVBA) and the local Neighbourhood Watch group.

John Horwood, chairman of RVBA said: “We like to generate some community spirit for occasions such as this and the flags also add a little colour to the high street.”

Many families and friends from across the village will be having parties and get-togethers to celebrate the unique event.
