THE FIRST Dementia Cafe took place at Bromsgrove’s Heathbrook House on Wednesday (May 18).
The Admiral Nurse from Bupa was on hand to answer any questions about the condition and support for patients and their families and carers.
That was followed by a presentation from Dr Calmalt of a lovely garden arbour and rose called Angela in memory of his wife who was one of the residents on the dementia unit for number of years.
Heathbrook House also gained the award from Worcestershire County Council for the third year in the row for person-centred Dementia Care.
It was presented by the Admiral Nurse to Gail Bessent, the home’s senior activities co-ordinator and Christine Cooper, the dementia unit’s champion nurse.
The whole afternoon was finished off by everyone enjoying some home-made cakes with tea and coffee.
