TWO BROMSGROVE women have raised more than £1,800 to help finish the radiotherapy unit at Redditch’s Alexandra Hospital.

Kerol Morris and Tracey Brookes, who held a joint 50th birthday party and fund-raiser at Catshill Working Mens Club, handed over the cheque to nurses last week.

The pair who asked for donations instead of presents were happy to announce they had raised almost twice their target.

The money will go towards finishing the Garden Suite so those needing radiotherapy will no longer need to travel to Coventry for their treatment.

Cash was also raised by the tickets sold for the special raffle which had a number of generous prizes on offer donated by businesses including Partridges butchers, David Lloyd, Asda, Beau Photography, Chapters Hair salon and the Abbey Hotel in Redditch.

Tracey said: “The party was brilliant it just went too quickly – it was quite nerve-wracking because it was for a charity and we wanted to get everything right.

“The is the start of something we are going to continue with.

“We hope to organise many more events for this charity which is so close to our hearts.”
