A CHARITY event for those who love fashion and wine is being held at Barnt Green Cricket Club next Sunday (September 27) to raise funds for breast cancer sufferers.
The fashion show will be themed on Downton Abbey and the dresses have been loaned by Barnt Green’s Continental Collection dress shop which is run by Rachel Meller.
Rachel was diagnosed with cancer in 2014 and the dresses will be modelled by both former and current patients, who are looking forward to gracing the catwalk to raise money for cancer charities. Among the causes will be Breast Cancer Care, Macmillan Cancer Support, the Primrose Hospice and the group’s own charity – the Bromsgrove and Redditch Bosom Friends Breast Cancer Support Group.
As well as the fashion show, there will also be a raffle and an auction as part of the event.
Prize organiser Sue Richards said: “We have had fantastic support from some local businesses, such as the Severn Valley Railway, Worcester Races and Banners Restaurant as well as national organisations including Boots, Asda and Lakeland.
“We really appreciate the kindness and generosity shown and the messages of support we have received from those who have felt the impact of cancer on their own families.”
No tickets will be on sale on the day, but they can be bought in advance by contacting Mandy or Julie, breast care nurses, on 01527 503030 ext 44625.
Adult tickets cost £10 and include a glass of bubbly and cakes.
Children’s tickets are available at a reduced rate.
Anyone wishing to make a donation to the raffle or auction should contact Mandy or Julie.
