FAMILY and friends of cancer sufferer, Katy Dawson, are rallying for one last push to get her to her £50,000 goal.
With chemotherapy for her rare breast cancer taking its toll on the 35-year-old mum of two, Natalie Ann has decided to chop her locks to try and get her beloved relative past the three quarter mark and off to Germany for her life saving treatment.
Natalie has set up a separate fundraising page, www.gofundme.com/nataliechopslocks, to raise money for Katy through sponsorship and will also be donating the inches of her long dark hair to the Little Princess Trust.
She said: “Only recently, did I learn that Katy has breast cancer. It’s a very aggressive form and one which is very rare.
“Katy is a young mum of two and this could save her life.
“I wanted to do my bit and help her reach her target.
“Please help two children keep their mummy and a girl somewhere receive hair after losing it to cancer.
“I will be so grateful to everyone who shares or donates to this cause.”
Alongside Natalie, Katy’s friend Clare Millward is also continuing to organise fundraisers which will take place in September and October.
Katy took to her Facebook this week where she said: “Paul and I should be flying out for a consultation in the next few weeks and to start some treatment with the money which has already been raised. It is going to be a very expensive process and is likely to be something ongoing so I am hugely grateful to you all for all your donations and fundraising efforts.
“My weekly chemotherapy is having a cumulative effect and is making me more and more exhausted each week but everyone’s support is keeping me going and we have been truly overwhelmed by your kindness during what is a horrendously worrying time for our little family. Thank you.”
