Droitwich woman steps up to plate for good cause

A DROITWICH woman will be stepping up to the plate and fund-raising for the Anthony Nolan charity by taking on London marathon.

Amanda Bowden will be lacing up her running shoes on Sunday (April 26) and flying the flag for Droitwich Spa with hopes of raising £1,850 for the cause. She has already collected more than £1,600.

Anthony Nolan matches individuals willing to donate blood stem cells or bone marrow to people suffering from blood cancer and blood disorders.

Amanda has been enduring training in and around the Spa in the cold, wet and wind over the past few weeks to ensure she is ready for the challenge.

Someone is diagnosed with blood cancer every 20 minutes and the cost to recruit and look after a potential donor is up to £100 – she wants to help support their mission.
