Dream come true for Bromsgrove ballet dancers

THE DANCING dreams of seven young Bromsgrove performers to be a part of a professional ballet production have come true.

There will certainly be no sleep for the group of excited hopefuls who beat all the odds in the auditions which saw 250 youngsters compete for top spots, in June.

Charlotte Griffith and Aoife Shaw, both 12, eight-year-old Francesca Jeacock, Ella Knight, 14, Libby Merchant, nine, 16-year-old Rosie Southall and Katie Trow, 15, will be appearing in a lavish adaptation of Sleeping Beauty at Wolverhamption’s Grand Theatre.

For three nights from September 19 the young dancers will be joining a cast of the English Youth Ballet’s most stunning international principal artists.




Amy Drew, an Australian principal ballerina, said: “The young dancers we are working with in Wolverhampton are doing so well.

“Working in a professional environment gives the students a unique insight into life in a ballet company.


“They are so lucky – I wish there had been something like the EYB when I was training.”
