THE REALIGNMENT of Fiery Hill Road in Barnt Green has been given the green light.
The application was deferred by Bromsgrove District Council in November after concerns were raised about a traffic survey.
Objectors claimed it was carried out when some of the surrounding roads were closed.
Since then another more comprehensive survey has been carried out and changes have been made to the proposed realignment of the road, which officers deemed more adequate. Increased visibility under the new layout – at the T junction of Fiery Hill Road and Kendal End Road – was also supported by Worcestershire County Council Highways.
A car park which is going to be built on Fiery Hill Road by CALA Homes will also be signed over to Barnt Green Parish Council and £30,000 will be paid for future resurfacing and maintenance costs. The car park will be free to use.
CALA Homes has been praised for the way it has liaised with the councillor for the area, Charles Hotham, the parish council and local residents to resolve the issues surrounding the application.
Coun Hotham said: “It’s good news that the new junction will be safe, if not safer, than the one originally proposed and
it’s even better news that the car park will be free to use for the future.
The application was unanimously passed by all nine councillors voting on it at Monday’s planning committee meeting.
