TIME is running out for Bromsgrove, Rubery and Droitwich youngsters to apply to become a police cadet.

The deadline for entries is Monday (February 29) to be considered for the September scheme which teaches teenagers about policing while working towards a Level 2 Award in Leadership and Team Skills, equivalent to a GCSE A* to C.

Det Insp Justin Taylor said: “This is a great opportunity for young people to get involved in a scheme in which they can use their time in a valuable way, find out more about the police and learn important skills whilst making new friends and having fun.

“We’d encourage anyone who is interested in a career in the police, to join the cadets.

“If you have any questions or would like to know more about the scheme, please send us an email.”

It is targeted towards year 11 students who must be eligible to start sixth-form or further education at the beginning of the apprenticeship.

“They should also be able to commit 15 hours of voluntary work every quarter and attend weekly meetings.”
