Course to teach how to save a baby’s life

Updated: 10:47 am, May 07, 2015

PARENTS can learn vital first aid skills that could one day save a child’s life at a course being run in the town.

The two-hour NCT Baby first aid course, at 8pm on Tuesday (March 17) at Bromsgrove Baptist Church, is being run by first aid trainer Jan Maycock who has teamed up with the town’s branch of the NCT (National Childbirth Trust).

The session is specifically designed to be relevant to parents and carers of babies and pre-school children.

It covers a variety of topics, including CPR, choking and burns, and is perfect for learning the simple procedures needed in an emergency, but short enough to fit into a busy parent’s schedule.

Claire Strachan, Bromsgrove NCT’s baby first aid co-ordinator, said: “Many parents and grandparents feel anxious about what to do for for a child in an emergency.

“The NCT Baby First Aid course is a chance to learn the essentials, ask questions and practice on dummies, to help them feel more prepared in a crisis.”

The course costs just £12.50 per person or £20 per couple.

Future sessions will be available in May, July, September and November 2015. Booking and pre-payment are essential.
