A COURAGEOUS woman has raised thousands of pounds for the charity which helped her through her grueling battle with breast cancer.
Carol Wilde organised the charity spring ball in aid of the Primrose Hospice which she has now collected a whopping £5,000 for as a way of ‘giving something back’.
The ball was held at The Abbey Hotel where friends, family and local businesses gathered to support the good cause.
The companies were kind enough to provide several raffle prizes. Saraj Townsend at Special Times has received a special thanks from Mrs Wilde for donating decorations and along with Martyn Harries from the band Distinction who played at the event for free, DJ’s Adam and Kim entertained the guests, J&G Engineering donated a photo booth and Hopwood flowers provided the bouquets.
Mrs Wilde said: “I decided that after the year I had, after being diagnosed with breast cancer, we needed a good old knees up and party, but also to raise what I thought would be in the region of £2,000 to give to the Primrose Hospice as a thank you for all the support they not only gave to myself but every one of us and our families facing cancer.
“They do a fantastic job offering so many different kinds of support and rely very heavily on charity events.
“So when I realised we actually raised £4,978.54 I was blown away.”
Mrs Wilde’s husband, Greg, then made up the rest of the cash to take the total to an impressive £5,000.
