Countdown begins to Bromsgrove Beer Festival

Bromsgrove Editorial 3rd Jun, 2014 Updated: 17th Oct, 2016   0

ALE-LOVERS from across the country will be descending on the town’s rugby club later this month when the 12th annual Bromsgrove Beer and Cider Festival is held there.

Organised by the Redditch and Bromsgrove branch of CAMRA (the Campaign for Real Ale), it takes place from June 26 to 28.

Among the beers available will be two from Bromsgrove’s Birds Brewery, including the Mild High Club and Night Jar which, as part of a scheme with the Worcestershire Wildlife Trust (WWT), is helping to raise cash for conservation.

The WWT is also the charity of the festival and a spokesperson for the trust said they were delighted the cause had been chosen.

“Our staff and volunteers will be at the beer festival and are looking forward to meeting many of the festival-goers over the three days.

“A number of our nature reserves are in the Bromsgrove area so it’s great to think that Bromsgrove’s beer-lovers will be helping to raise funds for the wildlife and great outdoors that’s right on their doorstep.

“Many have probably already been for a walk in Chaddesley Woods or gone wildilfe-watching at Upton Warren.

There will be tasting sessions to showcase different beers, a wide range of food and the event will also host the West Midlands Region Bitter of the Year competition.

Entertainment on the Saturday afternoon will be provided by Blackwell Concert Band.

The first day – from 6pm to 11pm on Thursday (June 26) – will be for CAMRA members only, although non-members wanting to join the organisation are also welcome.

On the Friday (June 27), it will open from 12midday to 11pm and the Saturday session will run from 11am to 9pm or until the beer runs out.

Admission is £5, which includes a programme and deposit for a commemorative glass, and there are discounts for CAMRA members.

There is also camping available for £10 per night.
