Children taster nature day at Northfield Ecocentre

CHILDREN can get out and about amongst nature in the school holiday at Northfield Ecocentre.

The Wild Bunch – the centre’s family forest school programme – is offering a free taster session tomorrow (Saturday) between 2pm and 4pm at the Maesfield Community Garden, Lindsey Avenue.

There will be games, exploring nature, den-building and plenty of toasting marshmallows on a fire.

Booking is essential.

Sessions usually cost £5 per child and, those booking one child for six sessions tomorrow can get a place for a second for half the price.

Then from 2pm to 4pm on Wednesday (May 28) and Friday (May 30), there will be EcoKids. The sessions at Northfield Ecocentre will see participants make their own musical instruments.

And next Sunday (June 1), from 1pm to 3pm, bringing down the curtain on half-term, will be the Fracking Free Big Lunch at Maesfield Community Gardens.

Those who go along are urged to take some food to share at the giant communal picnic.

There will also be a variety of activities, including junk modelling solar powered vehicles and making windmills.

Prior to the Big Lunch, there will be a group ride organised by Cycle South Brum from 11am to 1pm.

That will conclude at Masefield Community Garden in time for the well-earned Big Lunch.

To book any of the events or for more information, call Anne Dasgupta on 0121 448 0119.
