A SPECIAL service was held at the Catshill War Memorial on Monday (July 28) to commemorate the centenary of the start of the First World War.
Residents from Catshill and Marlbrook remembered those who paid the ultimate price in the conflict during the event, which was organised by the parish council and the Lickey End Royal British Legion.
Catshill and Marlbrook Parish Council chairman, Coun Alan Kelly, said: “It was moving to see so many attend the service to remember those from Catshill who did not return after the First World War.”
Dawn Bowyer, chairman of Lickey End Royal British Legion branch, added: “I am pleased the community came together on this solemn occasion and remembered the fallen from Catshill from the First World War.
“It was a moving service.”
The parish council will be organising a variety of events over the next four years.
The First World War took place between 1914 and 1918.
