CATSHILL man Kevin Godfrey rallied his friends and regulars at the New Inn, Bournheath, for a charity event in memory of his late wife Pat and raised £1,111 for the Primrose Hospice.

Pat died in November last year at the age of 68. She and her family were helped by the Primrose Hospice in the last few months before that.

A gala dinner, followed by an auction, raffle and numerous other fund-raising activities, saw Kevin’s original £1,000 target surpassed.

They chose the New Inn as the venue as it was Pat’s favourite pub.

Prizes were supplied by friends, pub regulars and local businesses including the Morrisons and Tesco supermarket chains.

Kevin said he wanted to thank everyone who took part in the event and raised so much money for such a good cause.
