TWO ARMED robbers raided a Rubery Jewellery store on Saturday (May 3).

The criminals who were both Asian burst into RF Collyer jewellers, on New Road, about 4.50pm, just as two female members of staff were preparing to leave for the day.

One of the robbers was armed with a claw hammer and as the pair forced their way in, they threatened the women and pushed one of them to the floor.

The raiders, dressed in dark sports clothing, then left on foot with cash and jewellery from a safe before heading towards Callowbridge Road.

The robbers were about 30-years-old, about 6ft tall and both were of musclar build. One man was described as having a chubby face.

One of the women working at the store suffered a cut lip during the incident but neither of them required medical attention.

Appealing for witnesses to the incident, Det Sgt Martin Grant, from North Worcestershire CID, said: officers wanted to speak to anyone who saw anything suspicious near the store at around the time it happened.

“If you saw these men either hanging about in the area, getting out of a vehicle or noticed where they went afterwards then please get in touch immediately.”

Witnesses or anyone with any information should call 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
