THE PRIMROSE Hospice has been chosen as the Sainsbury’s Local’s Charity of the Year for 2015-16.
Matt Meek, the manager of the Bromsgrove store, on the Stourbridge Road, has been down to the hospice for a tour and to meet staff, volunteers and patients.
And 12 employees from the supermarket also took part in last month’s 5k Rainbow Run for the hospices.
Matt will also be participating in the Morrisons Great Birmingham Run half marathon next weekend and two brave employees have signed up to do a 10,000ft freefall jump at the Parachute for Primrose on April 16.
Staff are currently planning their store’s first birthday event, which they will also be using to raise funds for the hospice.
That event – from 9am to 5pm on Friday (October 16) will include a hog roast and the store is also planning a series of book and cake sales.
Primrose’s corporate fund-raiser Kate Kelly, who met with Sainsbury’s staff at the hospice, said: “We are delighted to have been chosen to work in partnership with Matt and his team at Sainsbury’s Local.
“We look forward to seeing them raise vital funds to support local people when they need it the most.”
The funds the store is raising will go toward Primrose’s Day Hospice, along with Family Support and Primrose at Home services.
