MORE than £100 was raised for a hospital ward by Bromsgrove man Andrew Ashmore and his friend Paul Betteridge who took on the Winter Warrior Challenge.

Supported by xrunner at Castle Donnington, they conquered the 5k run with 31 obstacles.

The cash collected was raised by staff and customers from the Boat and Railway in Stoke Prior to say thank you to ward 43 (Neurosciences) at Coventry’s Walsgrave Hospital.

The staff performed life-saving surgery on Andrew’s step father after he suffered a bleed on the brain two years ago.

The remainder of the money will be donated to the Chloe Balloqui appeal. Chloe, the niece of Boat and Railway customer Dave Kallaste, was diagnosed with stage 4 neuroblastoma, a rare childhood cancer.

Andrew said he wanted to say a big thank you to all everyone who supported and sponsored him in his quest.
