Bromsgrove students busy planning their futures after picking up their GCSE results

STUDENTS from schools across Bromsgrove were among those picking up their GCSE results earlier today (Thursday).

And by yesterday afternoon, the young people were busy making plans for their futures.

At North Bromsgrove High School there were some fantastic performances.

Individual high achievers included Huw Morrey who was awarded 11 A*s and Charlotte Knight – she achieved nine A*s and an A.

Headteacher David Hadley-Pryce said he was extremely proud of the results, offered his hearty congratulations to all the students and said North aimed to prepare pupils for their lives ahead, enabling them to fulfill their full potential.

He praised his staff and the parents for their commitment and support and said he was delighted so many were progressing to the school’s sixth-form.

“However, whatever path they have chosen to take, we wish every one of our Year 11 students all the very best for the future.”

Among the star performers at South Bromsgrove High School were Lydia Teer who received seven A*s and thre As, Jennifer Hawkes who notched up four A*s and six As and Emily Hewitt (five A* and five As).

Daniel Green and Josh Weddell also both bagged a number of A* and A grades.

South Bromsgrove High School’s principal Paul Topping congratulated the students and wished them well.

“While students continue to achieve excellent results in core areas such as English, maths and science, our school is proud to celebrate high levels of achievement in all subjects across the curriculum.”

He praised the dedication of the teachers and the governors and said it was great the students were also excelling outside the classroom – 110 moving onto year 11 have also completed their Duke of Edinburgh Silver Award.

Impressive results at Bromsgrove School saw almost a third of results – some 64 per cent – graded at A* or A.

Hailed as some of the best the school had ever seen, 85 per cent were graded B or above.

Three students – Nathan Buckley, Natasha Durie and Abigail Saker – achieved a full house of 11 A*s.

Matthew Coulson, Matthew Hegarty, Laura Merritt, William Nadin, Rachel Weller and Alex Wong all achieved ten A*s and one A.

A further seven pupils achieved nine A* with one or more supporting A grades.

Headmaster Peter Clague said the fantastic results were just reward for the student’s dedication.
