THE SANTA sleigh run by Bromsgrove Round Table saw more than £5,000 collected for a variety of local charities and good causes.

The service has operated in Bromsgrove for more than 30 years and was as popular as ever over the festive season.

Bromsgrove’s Round Table chairman Jon Lear said: “Year in and year out, we take the sleigh out in all weather conditions and are greeted by hundreds of children and their families.

“Their faces are priceless and make the time and effort we put in as volunteers worthwhile.

“The donations we’ve had this year have been the cherry on the Christmas cake and will make a huge difference for the local community.”

GT Access helped with the project, providing free use of a vehicle to pull the sleigh for the fortnight run.

The Round Table is open to men aged between 18 and 45 and members get to participate in a range of social activities throughout the year, as well as a number of fund-raising events.

The group is always on the lookout for new members.

Santa wishes residents ‘merry Christmas’.
