A BROMSGROVE hedgehog rescue centre has appealed to residents to help by contributing to its latest fund-raising drive.
The Willows Hedgehog Rescue, which has already taken care of more than 250 of the prickly creatures this year alone, is looking to build an extension for its existing hospital.
As well as providing extra accommodation for hedgehogs at the end of their rehabilitation, the project will also allow more food storage space and enable the existing hospital to be dedicated to those animals which need treatment or critical care.
It will cost £3,500 and £1,325 has already been collected.
Willows has also recently been approved by the RSPCA after passing its inspection and animal welfare criteria.
That means it will also be taking hedgehogs from the charity in the future.
Anyone who wants to help the hedgehogs can visit http://www.gofundme.com/exjrpk and donate there.
Jayne Lawrence, who runs Willows with Charlie Walker, said: “Every donation no matter how small brings us a little closer to making the extension a reality.”
The charity is also appealing for volunteers to work one to two hours a week – between 5pm and 7pm on weekdays or from 9am to 11am or between 5pm and 7pm at weekends. Duties will include helping clean the rescue area and feeding the hedgehogs.
