A SPECIAL event is being held at Bromsgrove Library next weekend to celebrate Diwali, the festival of lights.

Organised by the Bromsgrove Indian Community Forum in conjunction with Bromsgrove District Council, it will be held between 10am and 2pm next Saturday (October 31).

There will be a Diwali exhibition with pictures and artefacts of the Diwali story and Divas or lamps and a variety of activities, including henna painting and Rangoli workshops. Indian snacks and sweets will also be available.

Everyone is welcome to go along to what promises to be a fun event.

Diwali symbolises the victory of light over darkness and thus good over evil.

BK Chaudhari, from the Bromsgrove Indian Community Forum, said “Diwali is one of the most important dates in the Hindu and Sikh calendar. Diwali is also celebrated by Jains and some Buddhists.

“We invite all Bromsgrovians to join us in this year’s celebrations”
