RESIDENTS from across Bromsgrove can learn important life-saving skills at a cut price first aid course being held in the town by St John Ambulance, writes Rebecca Ward.

The session, from 7pm to 10pm on August 12 at the St John Ambulance Centre, Barnsley Hall Drive, will teach people how to deal with common first aid situations, such as treating minor bleeding and burns, fainting, bites and stings, sprains and strains, what to do if someone is unresponsive and how to help someone choking.

The charity’s community training organiser Emma Elgerton said: “Accidents and injuries can happen anytime, anywhere.

“On our basic first aid course, you will discover techniques that will give you the skills and confidence to cope with the most common medical emergencies.”

The course costs £30 and for every place booked a second person can attend free.

The session is suitable for anyone aged 12 and over and under 18s must be accompanied by an adult.

Booking is essential.
