REDDITCH and Bromsgrove Royal Marine Cadets Kyan Hopkin and Alex Ludlow represented the South West of England at the Sea Cadet National combined regatta.

The two cadets got through into the finals, gaining a silver and a bronze medal at the event, coming second out of 14,000 cadets.

This is the first time Redditch and Bromsgrove have ever had representatives getting through to national competition.

Commanding officer James Sanders said: ‘This is a fantastic achievement for our local unit.

“This is the first time we have ever got through to Nationals, and the two cadets trained hard and performed well.

“They have done Redditch and Bromsgrove proud.”’

The unit is currently recruiting for Royal Marines Cadets.

Applicants should be aged between 13 and 18.

Redditch and Bromsgrove Sea Cadet Corps will be holding its annual general meeting (AGM) between 7pm and 7.30pm on Wednesday (September 28) at Unit 3, Uppercross Gate Road, Redditch. Everyone is welcome.
