RAIL fans were in for a treat on Saturday (July 4) when they got to see a Class 55 Deltic locomotive railtour journeying through Bromsgrove.

The D9009 ‘Alycidon’, which was built in 1961 and retired by British Rail in January 1982, hauled the ‘Torbay and Dart Explorer’ unassisted up the famous Lickey Incline on its return journey from Kingswear (near Dartmouth) to Derby.

The loco is now operated by The Deltic Preservation Society.

These pictures were taken and sent in by Neil Armstrong.
