Bromsgrove pupils learn how to be athletes

A SCHOOL in Bromsgrove and a town fitness firm have joined forces to train pupils how to prepare themselves for athletics.

Sessions are run twice-weekly at Catshill Middle School by Fairfield-based Athletic Performance Training (APT).

It came about after Catshill PE teacher Sarah Major contacted local gyms and fitness centres in a bid to provide something different for her pupils outside school hours and APT came forward to help.

Mark Lammas, the creator of APT, said: “I thought it was a fantastic idea and jumped at the chance of providing a community programme aimed at local schoolchildren to help them develop into athletes and show them how to build fitness away from the school environment.

“Both of my boys went to Catshill Middle and have gone onto become successful sportsmen so this was a perfect chance to help develop future sporting success.”

APT is now opening up two more slots for local middle schools.
