A BROMSGROVE man was arrested for charges relating to animal cruelty after allegedly leaving a dog in a car at Alton Towers on Saturday (June 21).

Security staff at the amusement park and police were called around 12midday after a Staffordshire bull terrier bitch was found distressed and dehydrated in a locked, hot, vehicle.

After forcing the door open and releasing the dog, officers arranged for it to be taken to a vet for emergency treatment.

A 21-year-old man was arrested at the theme park before being released on bail pending further enquiries.

The dog has been confiscated and has not been returned to her owner.
