PART of Bromsgrove High Street was closed this morning (Thursday) as police negotiators talked down a man who was on the roof of the former Mothercare building in the High Street.
Barriers were put across from the Post Office to The Slug and Lettuce and from Argos upwards.
A member of The Standard, who contacted The Standard, said: “There were two police cars inside the cordon and about six police officers there.”
He added there were more police vehicles, a fire engine and an ambulance in Windsor Street.
A West Mercia Police spokesperson said: “A cordon was put in place close to Mothercare at 11.30am for around 30 minutes as a precautionary measure to ensure the welfare of the man.
“A police negotiator was called and the incident was brought to a safe resolution.”
The man was detained under the Mental Health Act and has now been taken to hospital.
No one was injured during the incident and the High Street has now reopened.
