RESIDENTS are being urged to take part in a sponsored charity canal walk in aid of the Young at Heart children’s charity which has been organised by Bromsgrove heart patient Max Ponsonby.

The Walking For Young At Heart starts at the Gas Street Basin in Birmingham at 7.30am on Sunday (June 7) and sees participants walk 31 miles from there, along the canals, to Stratford.

It is estimated the walk will finish about 7pm at The Rose and Crown pub in Stratford.

Max, who has undergone several life-saving operations since 1998 after being born with a serious heart defect, launched the event in 2012 and, since then, it has helped raise more than £4,000.

The charity offers support to children who receive treatment at Birmingham Children’s Hospital, and their families. It has given Max and his family tremendous support over the years.

Any residents wanting to take part are welcome and those under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

Transport can be provided from Bromsgrove to Birmingham and return transport from Stratford if required.

For more information, call Young at Heart Trustee, Martina Ponsonby, on 07990 936753.

Sponsorship and donations can be made by either cash, cheque payable to ‘Young at Heart’ or through the Young at Heart Just
