Bromsgrove to have its first ever Winter Ales Festival

BROMSGROVE’S first ever Winter Ales Festival will be held at Lickey End Social Club, Alcester Road, next weekend.

The event, featuring 25 real ales and up to 30 ciders, will run from midday to 9pm on the Saturday and Sunday.

The festival has been organised by Terry Bacon from The Little Ale House, Worcester Road, and there will be a shuttle bus service from there to Lickey End Social Club from 12.30pm onwards.

Many of the beers are from local breweries, including Woodcote Manor, Dodford, Ambridge Brewery and Holdens, based in the Black Country.

Terry told The Standard: “I was speaking to a few of my regulars who said Bromsgrove had never had a winter ales festival and asked me why I did not put one on.

“It started off small but then escalated and I realised the Ale House would not be big enough – that is why we have chosen the Lickey End Social Club.

“Hopefully if it goes well, it can become an annual event.”

Admission is £3 and tokens will be sold for the beers and ciders.
