RESIDENTS can find out more about the police and fire service at a special open day being held between midday and 4pm next Saturday (September 27).
The free event is being held at the Blue Light Centre, Slideslow Drive, which was one of the UK’s first ever combined police and fire stations.
Among the variety of exciting activities taking place on the day will be displays of police and fire vehicles, police dogs and the young firefighters.
Demostrations of a chip pan fire and a smoke house will be held and there will also be face-painting, a performance by the police band, an appearance by firearms officers and vintage vehicles on display,
Police officers will be showing how they take fingerprints and put together wanted posters and there will be a stall by the Safer Roads Partnership, goody bags and much more.
