Bromsgrove families urged to take part in French exchange scheme

A BROMSGROVE woman is calling on families in the district to take part in a French exchange programme.

Lisa Mistry and her family have not looked back since responding to an advert in the paper looking for host homes three years ago.

The mum-of-four is now on the hunt for 30 families who would like to bring some culture into their home. Host families will be financially rewarded for their hospitality.

Since Lisa started welcoming French exchange students her family has hosted 11 young people in their home.

Lisa, who has recently become a co-ordinator for French company LEC, will be receiving the group from July 9 to July 22.

The students will be out all day having English lessons at Bournville College in the mornings, followed by activities such as golf, bowling and Cadbury World and will even get to enjoy a course of traditional fish and chips and afternoon tea along the way – all kindly donated or offered at a discounted rate by local businesses.

Lisa said she had always had keen interest in travel, culture and language and coming from an Italian and Spanish family herself wanted to make the most of the opportunity and also introduce another language and culture to her four young children.

She added: “The whole family has enjoyed the hosting experience so much that the children constantly ask her when the next group of French students will be arriving.”

Those wanting to take part do not need to speak French as the students speak good English.

If you have a spare room or two and could welcome a student into your home then e-mail Lisa on [email protected] or call 07702 504495.
